Account pages and Malaysian customers

Household logins, IC numbers on PDFs, and English copy that was never read aloud. Notes from portal reviews in Malaysia.

Customer portals here are often used by more than the named account holder. A child pays a parent’s bill. An office assistant downloads a statement. A spouse books a slot. If the portal assumes a single private user, the findings write themselves.

Personal data shows up in files more often than on screens. A bill PDF that prints a full identification number, a service address, and a phone number is a different object from the HTML page that hid two of those fields. Mapping work has to include the files.

Language is not a translation ticket. Error copy written in English that was never spoken at a counter will be misunderstood, and misunderstood copy becomes a call. We read copy as part of the journey, not as a separate ‘content’ stream.

None of this is a legal opinion. It is what we see when we sit with the same pages your customers sit with, in the same country those customers live in.
